Biographie de Ridley Scott
Scott est né à South Shields, Tyne and Wear, en Angleterre, le fils d'Elizabeth et du colonel Francis Percy Scott. Il a été élevé dans une famille de l'armée, ce qui signifie que pendant la plus grande partie de sa jeunesse, son père - un officier du Royal Engineers - était absent. Le frère aîné de Ridley, Frank, a rejoint la marine marchande quand il était encore jeune et le couple avait peu de contacts. Pendant ce temps, la famille a déménagé, vivant (entre autres) en Cumbrie, au Pays de Galles et en Allemagne. Il a un jeune frère, Tony, également réalisateur. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la famille Scott est retournée dans son nord-est de l'Angleterre natale, pour finalement s'installer à Teesside (dont le paysage industriel inspirera plus tard des scènes similaires dans Blade Runner). Il aimait regarder des films et ses favoris incluent Lawrence d'Arabie, Citizen Kane et Seven Samurai. Scott a étudié à Teesside de 1954 à 1958, à la Grangefield Grammar School et plus tard au West Hartlepool College of Art, obtenant un diplôme en design. Il a obtenu une maîtrise en design graphique au Royal College of Art de 1960 à 1962.
